This holiday season, I’m thinking about my experience of quarantine conditions. I’m also preparing for a trip to Kenya, which will remind me what it means to speak English as a second, third, or fourth language. Here I get to experience the thrills and chills of the language learner. Since English is the language used in Kenyan schools, however, most of the people I encounter will understand me.
